Bristol is one of the best places in the UK to go to see great examples of community led housing, and RUSS School participants are being given the chance to see for themselves. Join us for an exclusive tour of some of the most developed and inspiring community led housing schemes in the country. The one day visit will include:
- Ashley Vale/The Yard – a self-build development, now home of Ecomotive, Bristol CLT and the Bristol CLH Hub http://www.ecomotive.org/
- Bridge Farm – a new self-build community and a new type of social housing encompassing a rennovated farmhouse and outbuildings http://bridgefarmbristol.co.uk/
- Our visits will also correspond with the Bristol Housing Festival, so if we have time we will try to fit this in as well: Bristol Housing Festival
There will be a chance to meet residents and organisers and ask questions.
Lunch is included in the ticket price. When booking please let us know if you have any dietary requirements.
Tickets: Register your interest here: RUSS School visits Bristol
Tickets are set at £25 including booking fee, lunch and VAT. Tickets do not include rail travel or taxis so these will need to be bought by attendees. Taxi fares will be paid for by attendees on the day and are likely to be approximately £5 per journey.
We will be taking an 8.30am train from Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads. At time of writing tickets are £16 each way. Advance purchase tickets are always cheaper. Day returns usually offer a selection return times.
From Temple Meads we will walk, or share taxis, to Ashley Vale and then on to the other sites.
It is possible to walk between the residential sites (around 10 minutes). The walk to Bridge Farm is about 20-30 minutes. Those not wanting to walk can take a taxi.
We will arrive back in London at about 6pm.
If you do not wish to take the train you are welcome to make your own car sharing arrangements. There is no parking in the Yard but there is free parking in the residential sites nearby.
