Russ volunteers set up and ran our interactive stall at this year’s Hilly Fields Fayre, in order to raise awareness of our charity, enable people to be more involved and to sign up new members to our Community Land Trust. People appeared very interested in our new innovative scheme of 33 new sustainable, high quality, self-build homes on a shared space in Ladywell, SE13. Site maps, ideas boards, pictures of the site and free home-made cookies all helped to keep many conversations going with a continual stream of people throughout the day. Many people signed up on the spot to be members and everyone we spoke to was eager to take away our new flyer, containing a summary of our activities along with our website details, where further information and online signup details can be found.

Of equal – or even more – interest was our ‘Create a sustainable City’ craft activity space, where everyone, and particularly the younger generation, were encouraged to think and create their own sustainable cardboard city. A wide range of materials were provided and from their own creativity, many very colourful buildings and good ideas grew on our ‘site plan’ throughout the day. It was a pleasure to see some high quality creativity developing and our site plan being completed. Let’s hope the real thing is just as exciting and easy to build!

Many thanks to all Russ volunteers who helped on the day or worked behind the scenes to engage with many of the community and make this a positive day for Russ.
