Since residents moved into the new flats at 12 Church Grove in 2024, we’ve been monitoring air quality, thanks to a sensor provided through the Breathe London community programme. The data is analysed by the Environmental Research Group at Imperial College London.

In October 2026, fine particulate pollution (PM2.5) was above the World Health Organisation daily guideline on 2 days, and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) was above on 4 days.

The monthly average for PM2.5 was 1.4× the World Health Organisation annual guideline – and the average for NO2 was 1.6× the WHO annual guideline.

The location of 12 Church Grove, set back from main roads, means it’s less exposed to pollution than some of our Lewisham neighbours. (For example, look at the results from the monitor on nearby Ashmead Road – here, on half the days of the month PM2.5 or NO2 levels were above WHO guidelines.) Given that there is no safe level of exposure to air pollution, we are keen to identify sources of pollution and work to reduce them – for the benefit of everyone in London.
