RUSS is running a one-day workshop on How to organise a community housing project on Sunday 23 April.
RUSS is a Community Land Trust at the forefront of a community-led housing revolution in the UK. This workshop aims to share the lessons we have learned over the past 5 years with other aspiring community groups, students and housing practitioners, drawing on our experience with the upcoming Church Grove Project in Lewisham.
RUSS has faced many challenges and has come up with creative and robust solutions to gaining access to land to build. RUSS is by no means perfect or finished, but we believe we have some valuable lessons that can be passed on to people who are just starting out on a similar journey. We are now offering Module 1 of what we intend will become a 4 or 5 module course on Community-led Housing. The course will be led by RUSS Founder and Chair Kareem Dayes, and will take place in a self-built home that is part of the visionary 1980s Walter Segal housing community in Honor Oak.
Join us at 11 Walters Way, Honor Oak Park, London, SE23 3LH on Sunday 23 April, 10am–5pm
There are 20 places available for this session. Lunch will be provided.
The cost is £50 and this includes booking fee, all course materials, access to ongoing networking, lunch, coffee and snacks.
The course is delivered by RUSS organisers on a voluntary basis and all course fees will go towards RUSS housing projects.
