The Rural Urban Synthesis Society (RUSS) is seeking to appoint a new Chair in summer 2021. The Chair works with the Board, our staff, volunteers and members to drive our strategic objectives and help realise our vision for building affordable, sustainable and community-led neighbourhoods across London.

About RUSS

RUSS is a community land trust that builds sustainable, permanently affordable homes, and shares the learning from its project work through the RUSS School of Community-Led Housing. We are owned and led by over 1,000 members, who contribute to our mission through volunteering and attending our regular events. We are currently developing a 36-home scheme in Lewisham that has been co-designed and will be co-built by a community of future residents. Our office is located on this site, in our volunteer-built Community Hub.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for someone with significant leadership experience in the housing, charity or community-building sectors, who can develop and lead a high-performing organisation and has a strong commitment to our mission and values. We are open to the role being split between two Co-Chairs. If this is of interest, please let us know when you apply.

RUSS seeks to reflect the community it operates in, and would welcome applications from women and people who are disabled, LGBTQ+ or from ethnic minority groups.

How to apply
