The Rural Urban Synthesis Society (RUSS) is seeking to appoint a new Chair in summer 2022. The Chair works with the Board, our staff, volunteers and members to drive our strategic objectives and help realise our vision for building affordable, sustainable and community-led neighbourhoods across London.

About RUSS

RUSS is a Community Land Trust building sustainable, permanently affordable and community-led housing in London. We’re currently developing a 36-home scheme in Lewisham, driven by a community of future residents. We share the lessons from our project work through the RUSS School of Community-Led Housing. Over 1,000 members and volunteers contribute to our mission, including through helping to design and build our Community Hub in 2019.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for someone with significant leadership experience in the housing, charity or community-building sectors, who can develop and lead a high-performing organsisation and has a strong commitment to our mission and values.

RUSS seeks to reflect the community it operates in, and would welcome applications from women and people who are disabled, LGBTQ+ or from ethnic minority groups.

How to apply

Email info@theruss.org with a copy of your CV and a supporting statement setting out why you’re interested in the role and your relevant background and skills. Feel free to get in touch with any questions ahead of applying.

The deadline for applications is 10th May 2022.

For more information on the role and how to apply, download the Chair recruitment pack.

We’re also looking to recruit trustees and a board secretary. You are welcome to apply for more than one role at the same time.
