At the AGM on 27 June 2026, we are asking members to pass a special resolution to update RUSS’s governing document, the Rule Book. Registered in 2009, our current Rules need modernising to comply with newer legislation, such as the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014. The proposed new Rule Book is based on Model Rules from the Community Land Trust Network (CLTN). Because CLTN is sponsoring our application to the FCA for a complete amendment, the registration process will be much faster. The bespoke elements of the new Rule Book focus on our Objects, which have been designed to balance RUSS’s historic principles with our future aspirations. Once approved by members, the new Rules will take effect as soon as they are formally accepted by the FCA.
